Drugan drops to 12th entering final day of State Open

MENASHA, WI - Holmen's Keegan Drugan dropped seven spots, but remains in contention for the title entering the final day of the 98th annual Morgan Stanley Wisconsin State Open.
Drugan (pictured) shot a 1-over par 71 at North Shore Golf Club in Menasha on Tuesday. Coupled with Monday's 2-under 68, Drugan is in 12th place with a 139 total and is one of 66 players making the cut for Wednesday's final 36 holes.
Jeffrey Kaiser, a former Onalaska High School and University of Wisconsin golf standout, is tied for 38th place at 145 after posting 72 on Tuesday.Joe Du Chateau of Fond du Lac, a former UW-Green Bay golfer went on a birdie blitz on Tuesday as he carded 10 birdies and posted an 8-under 62. His two-day total of 7-under 133 leads Hunter Eichhorn of Marquette University by one shot. Sitting just two shots back in third place is Charlie Delsman of Colgate, WI.

Holmen's Keegan Drugan shares 5th in State Open golf

MENASHA, WI - Keegan Drugan of Holmen is tied for fifth place after the opening round of the 98th Morgan Stanley Wisconsin State Open at North Shore Golf Club in Menasha on Monday.
Drugan, (pictured), a former three-time winner of the La Crosse County Amateur Golf Championships before turning professional, carded a 2-under par 68 to join three other players in fifth place.
Chad Sandee of Sheboygan leads the 72-hole event with 65.
Jeffrey Kaiser, a former Onalaska High School and University of Wisconsin golf standout, is tied for 49th place with 73.
The 72-hole tournament is reduced to the low 60 players plus ties after Tuesday's round with the final 36 holes on Wednesday.  
The 156-player field features 84 professionals, 70 amateurs and 2 individuals in the process of re-instating as amateurs through the USGA.  

Onalaska's Weber just misses qualifying for USGA Mid-Amateur

HARTFORD, WI - Onalaska's Joe Weber (pictured) just missed making the cut for the United States Golf Association Mid-Amateur Championship.
Weber, the winner of the 2016 and 2017 La Crosse County Amateur Golf Championship as presented by Pepsi-Cola of La Crosse, shot a sparkling 2-under par 70 at Washington County Golf Course in Hartford on Wednesday, but became the first alternate in the chase to qualify for the annual event.
Garrett Jones and Jim Lemon, both from Madison, shot 69 and were the only two qualifiers.

Holmen's Bistodeau fares well in WSGA Senior Tour Event No. 14

STEVENS POINT, WI - Mike Bistodeau of Holmen did well in the Wisconsin State Golf Association Senior Tour Event No. 14 at the Stevens Point Country Club on Monday.
Bistodeau shot a 1-over par 73 with 35 points and fifth place tie in the gross division, and then followed with a tie for 13th in the net portion of the 18-hole event with 70 and 38 points.
Greg Johsnon of Black River Falls tied for 23rd in the gross division with 77 and 31 points, and tied for 24th in the net portion with 72 and 36 points.
Onalaska's Ronald Puestow finished 41st in the Super Seniors gross division with 101 and 11 points, followed by a tie for 40th net division finish with 80 and 28 points.

16th annual Wilber Memorial set Aug. 26

TREMPEALEAU, WI - The 16th annual Linda and Harold Wilber Memorial two-person big cup scramble is scheduled Sunday, Aug. 26, at Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club.
Entry fee is $40 per person for Trempealeau Mountain pass holders and $60 each for non-pass holders. Entry fee includes 18 holes with cart, tee prizes, range balls, hole contests on all 18 holes, two drink tickets and lunch after the round.
There is men's and women's gross and net awards as well as mixed team net awards. Team handicap is based on 30 percent of player A's handicap and 15 percent of player B.
Tee times are available from 7 a.m.-3 p.m., according to Nick Jankowski, director of golf.
