Billy Isbell from Island Outdoors on French Island

It's Billy from Island Outdoors.
Just got off the phone with Tom from the Best Dam Fishing Float. They will be opening up Friday, March 16 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. until daylight gets earlier.
Fishing has been good as of late. Walleye are doing great by the dams. Genoa and Dresbach have been producing many walleye and sauger limits.
The consensus is that ring worms have been doing great. Walleye minnows as well are starting to fly out the doors.
Perch are on the verge of breaking open like the flood gates. with some nice ones heading up to the dams as well. The rosie red minnow has been the best with red worms starting to be very popular.
Bluegills are doing really well just about anywhere along weed edges and beds. The preferred bait is the wax worm.
Northern and bass have been doing great on shiners as well using tip-ups on weed edges and drop-offs.
Crappies have been suspended below the ice about half way up from bottom and just below the ice . They have been hitting on waxies and minnows on tip-downs.
We hope to see you all soon. We are gearing up for summer and winding down from ice.
The ice is still 12 to 15 inches thick in most areas. The problem is the shorelines are becoming softer and a little more difficult to access the ice.
Be safe! There is no fish worth more than your life.
