County Amateur Golf Championships enter 27th year with new twist

It has been a busy offseason for the La Crosse County Amateur Golf Championships Board.
Two proposals, including one involving a survey for Men's Championship Flight players, were among several agenda items at the Board meeting at The Golf Club at Cedar Creek in Onalaska in early January.

Chuck Englebert recorded the first hole-in-one of his life and it couldn't have come at a better time - in 2016, at Forest Hills Golf Course in La Crosse.
Englebert, who has been playing golf for 57 years, notched his ace with an 8-iron on the 117-yard, seventh hole. The best news yet is the La Crosse resident and Forest Hills member earned a trip to Mexico.
Englebert's trip is part of KemperSports "Uno" promotion, which awards an eight-day, seven-night vacation to all golfers recording holes-in-one at Forest Hills this year. A total of nine golfers have now posted aces at the course in 2016.
KemperSports manages the public course for the City of La Crosse.
